The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is a public technical university established by the Government of India, located in Amingaon area, North Guwahati Village area, in the state of Assam in India. It is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India.
IIT Guwahati was the 6th addition to the family of IITs. As per NIRF 2023 rankings, IIT Guwahati is ranked on 7th in the Engineering category. Often lauded as a most beautiful campus in India, IIT Guwahati is located on the serene northern banks of Brahmaputra. The campus of the university is located on a sprawling 700-acre area on the banks of river Brahmaputra. The most popular course offered at IIT Guwahati is BTech where admission is granted as per JEE Advanced Score + JoSAA counseling. IIT Guwahati BTech CSE Cutoff 2023 is 398-654. IIT Guwahati B.Tech fees for the first year are approximately INR 2.19 Lakhs.
IIT Guwahati has concluded the placements for the year 2023. During these placements,1112 offers were made to IIT Guwahati students. The offered pay package at IIT Guwahati BTech CSE placements in 2023 was INR 42.10 LPA. The highest domestic package offered at IIT Guwahati was INR 1.1 crore per year, whereas the highest international package was INR 2.4 crore per year. For the MTech & MDes program, the highest CTC remained INR 57.07 LPA and 51.32 LPA respectively.
IIT Guwahati has signed an MoU with Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA) to foster scientific temper among the state-run schools in Assam. The Incubation center of IIT Guwahati has incubated 42 start-ups to promote the entrepreneurial ecosystem among the students. Further, IIT Guwahati is also home to the BioNEST, the Bio Incubation center supported by BIRAC (Govt of India). Recently, BioNEst hosted 80 startups across India to showcase their products to Investors, healthcare providers, and Enablers.

IIT Guwahati Placements 2023 final report has been released. IIT Guwahati students received a total of 1112 offers where 20 offers were international offers. The highest placements offered in IIT Guwahati placements 2023 stood at INR 2.4 CPA for the BTech program. The highest package (domestic) offered to the BTech program is 1.20 CPA. For the MTech & MDes program, the highest CTC remained INR 57.07 LPA and 51.32 LPA respectively.
Life At Iit Guwahati :-
Notwithstanding their demanding academic schedules, IIT Guwahati students are urged to take part in the many recreational and cultural events. These events are arranged by the Institute and the Students’ Gymkhana. The academic centers, departments, laboratories, classrooms, and other facilities are all housed in the 74,000-square-metre Academic Complex. The Institute’s offices are housed in a large administrative building. A contemporary computer center and central library are located inside the Computer and Communication Center.
