Indian Institute of Technology Patna is a public research university and technical institute located at Bihta near Patna, Bihar. It is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. It is one of the second generation IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 6, 2008.

IIT Patna offers a comprehensive curriculum with over 40 courses available for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. BTech is the most popular course at IIT Patna, where admissions are based on JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSAA counseling. The cutoff for BTech admissions typically ranges between 2612-16253 rank. The course, which spans four years, costs approximately INR 10.6 lakhs, excluding boarding and lodging. IIT Patna provides a 4-year undergraduate BTech programme. There are a total of nine specialties offered in the BTech programme. IIT Patna provides two-year MTech and MSc programs at the postgraduate level. At the doctoral level, PhD degrees are also available at IIT Patna.
582 seats in IIT Patna BTech programs are available for admission through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced, which is taken by applicants to the IITs after completing 10+2 years of education. Eight semesters of the curriculum are spaced out over four academic years. Each semester, a student enrolls in five to six theory courses in addition to laboratory courses. A credit system is used to evaluate a student’s performance. Depending on the quantity of weekly lecture, tutorial, and lab hours, a given course is given a certain number of credits.

IIT Patna admission in more than 40 UG & PG Courses is offered via various national-level exams. For admission to the IIT Patna flagship B.Tech program, applicants are required to secure a valid rank in JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counseling. Allocation of seats for the B.Tech course is done online via JOSAA counseling, based on the applicant’s rank, category, availability of seats, and other factors. The total fee for the IIT Patna B.Tech program is INR 6.98 Lacs. For IIT Patna B.Tech in the CSE stream, the cut-off ranges between 1849 and 2732 for the general category.
Placement :-
For the IIT Patna 2023 placement drive, 412 placement offers were made. A few of the top employers were Amazon, Samsung, Google, Adobe, etc. 50 Pre-placement offers were made to the students. The average compensation was INR 28.59 LPA.
Life At Iit Patna :-
The campus of IIT Patna is situated on 501 acres (203 hectares) of land in Amhara, Bihta, 35 kilometers from Patna. Kapil Sibal laid the cornerstone for the IIT Patna, Bihta Campus in 2011. IIT Patna began its new academic year in July 2015 at its permanent site in Bihta. On July 25, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Bihta campus. Before this, the Naveen Government Polytechnic used a temporary 10-acre (4.0 ha) campus in Pataliputra colony, Patna, where the institute was housed in restored buildings.
IIT Patna’s campus culture is fantastic, with its coding festival called NWOC (Njack Winter of code). During the first month, students are exposed to a variety of hard tasks. Weekly technical classes are held by the student body. HOSCA (House of Social and Cultural Activities) at IIT Patna encourages students to participate in cultural events such as dance, drama, music, and so on.
