Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad is a public autonomous engineering and research institute located in Palakkad, Kerala. It is one of India’s 23 IITs. Proposed in the 2014 Union budget of India, IIT Palakkad was established in 2015 as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.
IIT Palakkad, often known as IIT PKD, is a public autonomous engineering and research institute in the Keralan town of Palakkad. In August 2015, IIT Palakkad began operating out of a temporary location at the Ahalia Integrated Campus in Palakkad. IIT Palakkad’s permanent campus site in Kanjikode has been allocated 504 acres of land. IIT Palakkad is currently operating from both of its temporary campuses.
IIT Palakkad is ranked 69th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2023. Established in 2015, IIT Palakkad offers BTech, MTech, MSc, MS, and PhD programs in 8 streams. The flagship program of the institute is the BTech program. IIT Palakkad offers 5 specializations, namely- Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to the course is done based on the JEE Advanced cutoff, followed by JoSAA counseling. Admission to the program requires a JEE Advanced general rank of 5162-16487. The first-year fee for the IIT Palakkad BTech program is INR 2.91 Lakhs.

IIT Palakkad offers four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and two-year MS programs in a variety of engineering specialties. Admission to undergraduate programs at the Indian Institute of Technology is contingent, like at the other IITs, on passing the fiercely competitive Joint Entrance Examination. Additionally, all of the engineering and scientific areas provide Ph.D. programs. Candidates with appropriate GATE scores are eligible to enroll for the Master of Technology degrees. IIT-JAM is the admissions process for these programs. Along with a brand-new B.Tech program in Data Science and Engineering, the institute introduced flexible choice-based B.Tech programs and degree options in 2022.

IIT Pallakad admission to 31 courses at UG, PG, and doctoral levels is conducted through national-level entrance examinations. Admission to IIT Pallakad’s flagship B.Tech program is based on the JEE Advanced rank. The eligible students should register for the JoSAA counseling for their seat allocation after the result declaration of JEE Advanced. The total fee for the IIT Pallakad B.Tech program is INR 8.72 Lakhs. For IIT Pallakad B.Tech in the CSE stream, the cut-off ranges between 3716 and 5227 for the general category. IIT Pallakad also offers admission to PG courses such as M.Tech, M.S (Research), M.Sc, etc. To secure a seat in these popular programs, students should obtain valid scores in the national-level entrance exams including IIT JAM, GATE, and Departmental tests followed by the PI round.Along with the UG and PG programs, IIT Pallakad provides Ph.D. programs under various disciplines. Shortlisting for Ph.D. admission is done based on an entrance exam conducted by the institute followed by a PI round. However, candidates having valid scores in GATE/ CEED/ UGC/ CSIR are also considered eligible for the IIT Pallakad Ph.D. program.

IIT Palakkad placement 2023 is concluded. Till now IIT Palakkad has witnessed a placements percentage of 90.05%. 38 Pre-Placement offers have been made, which is the highest on-campus PPO till now at IIT Palakkad. A total of 211 students registered for the 2023 placement drive and 190 of them were placed. IIT Palakkad’s highest package stood at INR 46.15 LPA, which was offered in the Computer Science & Engineering branch and Mechanical Engineering branch. IIT Palakkad’s average package stood at INR 13.95 LPA and the median package at INR 11.50 LPA. Also, the Computer Science & Engineering branch has witnessed a 100% placement.
Life At Iit Palakkad :-
IIT Palakkad has two campuses: the temporary campus and the Nila campus, which are spaced apart by around 13 miles. The temporary campus may be found inside the Ahalia Integrated campus near Kozhippara, Palakkad. It is around 20 kilometers from the city. The temporary campus academic building is 55,000 square feet in size. Out of the 504 acres granted for the permanent campus location in Kanjikode, the Nila Campus is situated on 30 acres.The permanent campus is 14 kilometers from the Palakkad Railway Station and roughly 60 kilometers from the Coimbatore International Airport. It is located on a scenic 504-acre tract at the base of the Western Ghats. The temporary campus is 55,000 square feet in size and has a seminar room, auditorium, conference room, workshop, library, canteen, laboratories, and faculty offices in addition to well-equipped classrooms. Additionally, it offers access to high-speed internet at hostels and facilities for sports and relaxation.Out of the 504 acres given for the permanent school location in Kanjikode, 30 acres make up the Nila school. The campus has a first-rate infrastructure in place, including an auditorium, small and big classrooms with multimedia capabilities, student labs, a library, a canteen, and dorms with complete Wi-Fi capabilities and mobile Internet access. Samgatha and Manogatha are the names of the academic building and the laboratory complex, respectively. Bageshri, Brindavani, and Tilang are the three freshly constructed dormitories that house the students in the Nila Campus. Phase I of the permanent campus is still being built.
