Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is a public technical university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. It was later designated an Indian Institute of Technology.
Despite sharing a campus with Banaras Hindu University, IIT BHU runs as an autonomous research institution. The 400-acre campus is situated in Varanasi. The institute is approved by the UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). According to NIRF 2023, IIT BHU is placed 15th in the engineering field. IIT BHU’s 14 departments and three multidisciplinary schools provide 64 courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels. The IIT BHU campus is 1300 acres large.
As its signature program, BTech is offered by IIT BHU. The BTech program offered by IIIT BHU is a 4-year course. A JEE Advanced score is required for enrollment in the program. Following the admissions procedure is JoSAA counseling. The overall cost of a BTech degree is roughly INR 8.5 lakhs. One must have completed Class 12 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required courses and a minimum of 75% overall (65% for SC/ST/PwD category candidates) or be in the top 20% of their class to be eligible for this program.

IIT BHU grants UG, PG, Dual Degree, and PhD degrees. All courses are accepted on the basis of results from national-level exams. The criteria for undergraduate admissions are JEE Advanced and AAT. Postgraduate admissions require the GATE, JAM, and GPAT exams. For the PhD program, the IIT BHU considers both the entrance exam and the interview.
Placement :-
IIT BHU Placements 2023 is in progress. 472 offers and 335 PPOs have been provided to students. INR 1.68 CPA was the highest package offered. The placement brochure for 2022–2023 has been published by the Ceramic Engineering Department. According to the Ceramic Engineering placement brochure 2022-23, the highest, average, and mean package offered at IIT BHU placements 2022 was INR 40.18 LPA, INR 21.89 LPA, and INR 24.11 LPA, respectively.

IIT BHU’s campus is huge and has a wide range of academic disciplines. The opportunity exists for students to explore both their intellectual and social selves. Three major festivals—technical, cultural, and sports—are held annually at IIT BHU. Students can also go to regional tourism destinations like Varanasi’s Ghats.
