Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai was inaugurated on 7 August 2016 by Shri Prakash Javedakar, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India, and Shri Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Chhattisgarh.
IIT Bhilai is an autonomous university, established in 2016. IIT Bhilai offers BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD degrees. IIT Bhilai operates from its transit campus in Government Engineering College (GEC) Raipur, Chhattisgarh. IIT Bhilai has its own hostels for males and females on campus, which are provided by GEC Raipur. IIT Bhilai will be located on roughly 447 acres of land near the Bhilai villages of Kutelabatta and Sirsa Khurd. IIT Bhilai’s permanent campus is currently being built.
IIT Bhilai offers BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD programs in a variety of subjects. All disciplines at IIT Bhilai are open to admission through national entrance tests, which are followed by counseling. IIT Bhilai operates from its transit campus at the Government Engineering College (GEC) in Raipur. The IIT Bhilai transit campus is located in Raipur’s Sejbahar neighbourhood along Old Dhamtari Road. The transit campus is only around 10 kilometres from Raipur’s main city and has excellent public transportation access to the airport, railway station, and city of Raipur. The permanent campus of IIT Bhilai is easily accessible by all major forms of transportation since it is only 54 kilometres from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Mana, Raipur, and 5 kilometres from the Great Eastern Highway.
