Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is an autonomous engineering and technology education institute located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Established in 2015, IIT Tirupati functions as an autonomous technical university.IIT Tirupati began its operations in 2015-16 with IIT Madras as its mentoring institution. IIT Tirupati is currently operating out of a temporary campus on Renigunta Road in Tirupati. The Permanent Campus, which covers over 548.3 acres and is provided by the Government of Andhra Pradesh near Merlapaka Village on the Yerpedu-Venkatagiri Highway. It integrates the Stage 1A Transit Campus, which is larger than 36 acres.
By 2024, the main campus construction will be finished. The new campus’s building spans 548.3 acres. IIT Tirupati is a recently established IIT with the major programs of BTech, MTech, M.Sc, MS, and PhD. Aside from that, the M.Tech. and M.Sc. programs began significantly later in 2019. All course admission is entrance-based. The admission exams may be institute-based entrance exams or national-level exams.
IIT Tirupati is known for its B.Tech program which is offered in 5 specialties. The per semester cost of the IIT Tirupati BTech program is INR 1,36,883. IIT Tirupati offers courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. There are nine departments at IIT Tirupati: Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, and Humanities & Social Sciences.
Admission :-
IIT Tirupati accepets National-level entrance exams and it is used to determine admission to more than 59 programs. IIT Tirupati B.Tech is the most opted program among all with an intake capacity of 224 students. Candidates seeking admission to the flagship B.Tech program at IIT Tirupati must clear the JEE Advanced exam and register for the JoSAA counseling for their seat allocation.
Apart from the flagship B.Tech program, IIT Tirupati offers other courses like M.Tech, M.Sc, MS, etc. Admissions to these courses are based on scores obtained in the entrance examination such as IIT JAM, GATE, etc followed by counseling. For the final selection, IIT Tirupati also conducts personal interviews for some courses. Candidates aspiring for admission to these courses must register for the respective entrance examinations separately. Once the entrance exam results are declared, candidates can fill out application forms for admission on the official website of IIT Tirupati.
IIT Tirupati also offers the Ph.D program in 2 streams namely Engineering and Science. IIT Tirupati admission to the Ph.D. course is finalized on the basis of a Department-Based Test followed by Academic Performance, Work Experience, and Interview. GATE/ NET/ CSIR/ UGC or SLET qualified candidates are also eligible for P.hD. admission.
Placement :-
IIT Tirupati Placements 2023–2024 have begun and is still in process. Pre-Placement discussions will start on September 2nd, 2023. The hiring period will begin on September 2 and last through the conclusion of the school year 2023–2024. In 2024, 360 students are anticipated to graduate. Till now IIT Tirupati has witnessed an overall placement of 61.70% for B.Tech students. IIT Tirupati’s highest package stood at INR 46 LPA, which was offered to the students of the Computer Science and Engineering branch. The highest average and median package was also offered in the Computer Science and Engineering branch, which was INR 25.25 LPA and INR 20.32 LPA respectively.
Life At Iit Tirupati :-
The Institute arranges co-curricular and extracurricular activities in addition to academic endeavors. Many groups exist to pique students’ interest and promote study. Regular entrepreneurship seminars and technology workshops are held by the Entrepreneurship Cell. It also motivates students to develop original solutions to contemporary issues through competitions. Students at IIT Tirupati can unwind, stay active, and have fun thanks to the adventure sports club Aranya and the fitness center. There are also a number of cultural organizations, including PFC, Artista, Actomania, Xcite, Sargam (a music organization), and PFC (a photography group).
There are approximately 14 active clubs and organizations at IIT Tirupati, which host a variety of extracurricular events like Chaturanga (chess), Xcite (dance), Techmaniacs (robotics), and Digital Wizards (coding). The variety of club activities expanded along with the student body. The preparation of participants for Inter-IIT cultural, technical, and athletic competitions is significantly helped by a number of groups. The Institute founded its Fitness Club as part of the Fit India Movement to host yoga classes and educational webinars on the club’s topic. By offering counseling sessions, orientation programs, yoga workshops, and life-skills training, Sarathi’s Guidance and Counseling Unit caters to the mental health of students.
Tirutsava, an annual techno-culture festival held at IIT Tirupati and organized by the students each year in February, features a variety of technical and cultural activities. Students get the opportunity to discover their creative and analytical sides through coding challenges, think tanks, discussions, tests, and cultural activities. Stand-up comedy, skits, dramas, etc. are also included.
